Fitzgibbon Hospital’s was conceptualized in 1916 when John Fitzgibbon, an Irish immigrant, called for the construction of a hospital in his hometown in his will. His estate paid for the construction of the hospital in Marshall, Missouri, which admitted its first patient in 1923. Over time, as the community grew, a need for a larger hospital emerged and, in 1991, Fitzgibbon Hospital was rebuilt to accommodate more patients. Today, Fitzgibbon continues to serve its community by providing quality care and attention to all its patients. Located on the southside of Marshall, Missouri, Fitzgibbon Hospital employs over 200 individuals accommodates almost 4,500 patients daily.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 6, 2022, Fitzgibbon Hospital discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Fitzgibbon Hospital determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired. Recently, Fitzgibbon Hospital began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license numbers
- Financial account numbers
- Health insurance information
- Medical information
