ConsensioHealth Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating ConsensioHealth, LLC (“Consensio”) regarding its recent data breach. The Consensio data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 60,000 individuals.

ABOUT CONSENSIOHEALTH, LLC:

Consensio is a medical management services company based in Wisconsin. Founded in 2014, Consensio offers a host of revenue cycle and practice management services, including coding and claims management, practice data analytics, payor relations and reimbursement optimization services, financial and accounting services, human resources outsourcing, and physician education. To that end, Consensio provides a comprehensive technology platform called SensER, which integrates all practice data streams – EHR, billing, scheduling, health information management systems – and produces customizable reporting.3 Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Consensio employs over 10 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 7, 2023, Consensio discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Consensio determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information on July 3, 2023. Recently, Consensio began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or other state ID number
  • Account access credentials
  • Health insurance information (e.g., Medicare or Medicaid number)
  • Medical information (e.g., medical treatment and diagnosis information, medical treatment cost information, patient account number, healthcare provider information, prescription information)
