Orchard Foods Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Orchard, LLC, which does business as Orchard Foods, regarding its recent data breach. The Orchard Foods data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of employees.

ABOUT ORCHARD, LLC D/B/A ORCHARD FOODS:

Orchard Foods is a locally owned and operated franchisee of Taco Bell, KFC, and Jersey Mike’s restaurants in Washington. Starting as a franchisee of a single Taco Bell in 1989, Orchard Foods grew to acquire KFC and Jersey Mike’s locations in 1998 and 2020, respectively. Today, Orchard Foods owns and operates 15 stores throughout Western Washington, with half a dozen more currently in development. Headquartered in Silverdale, Washington, Orchard Foods employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 30, 2023, Orchard Foods was informed that its payroll processing provider, Paycor, experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Paycor determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which Paycor uses, on or about May 30, 2023. On December 16, 2023, Orchard Foods began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
