National Electric Coil Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating National Electric Coil regarding its recent data breach. Founded in 1917, National Electric Coil produces a range of generator parts, including stator and rotor windings, inner-water and inner-hydrogen stator bars, roebel bars, and a variety of coils. Additionally, National Electric Coil offers installation and repair services to a wide variety of machines such as high voltage generating units, air-cooled machines, and water-cooled fleet leaders. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, National Electric Coil has an additional location in Brownsville, Texas and employs more than 500 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, National Electric Coil discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, National Electric Coil determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between March 7 and March 8, 2023. On December 8, 2023, National Electric Coil began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card) 
  • Medical information
