The MESVision data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 346,000 individuals.

MESVision is a vision benefit administration company based in California. Founded in 1976, MESVision provides vision care services to employers through insurance companies, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations and self-funded plans.3 Working with independent ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, and national optical chains across the country, MESVision offers its members a variety of brands and vision plans including glasses, contacts, and LASIK discounts.4 Headquartered in Foothill Ranch, California, MESVision has one location and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 23, 2023, MESVision discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, MESVision determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform on May 28, 2023, and May 31, 2023. On November 14, 2023, MESVision began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Health insurance information
