TBK Bank Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating TBK Bank, SSB regarding its recent data breach. The TBK Bank data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT TBK BANK, SSB:

TBK Bank is a state savings bank offering commercial and consumer banking products. Accordingly, TBK Bank offers its customers checking and savings accounts, loans, mortgages, credit cards, treasury management, commercial and industrial (C&I) loans, commercial real estate loans, mortgage warehouse lending, and other financial products. Founded in 1981, TBK Bank is a subsidiary of Triumph Financial. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, TBK Bank operates 63 branch locations across Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, and New Mexico, and employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 8, 2023, TBK Bank was notified by its third-party service provider, Fiserv, that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Fiserv determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform used by Fiserv between May 27 and May 31, 2023. On October 31, 2023, TBK Bank began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been made publicly available by TBK Bank. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:  

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information 
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
