Founded in 1999, Progressive Leasing began as the first virtual lease-to-own option for individuals looking to finance their purchases at retail stores. Today, Progressive Leasing works with large retailers such as Best Buy, Lowe’s, Samsung, and Mattress Firm. Headquartered in Draper, Utah, Progressive Leasing employs approximately 1,350 individuals and works with over 30,000 retail locations across 46 states.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On September 11, 2023, Progressive Leasing discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Progressive Leasing determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information between September 9 and September 11, 2023. On October 23, 2023, Progressive Leasing began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Contact information
