Headquartered in Westwood, New Jersy, Modera Wealth Management operates 16 branch offices across the East Coast, including in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 5, 2023, Modera Wealth Management discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Modera Wealth Management determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through an employee’s email account between June 1 and June 5, 2023. On September 8, 2023, Modera Wealth Management began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account number
