Trussway Manufacturing Data Breach Investigation

Trussway Manufacturing specializes in the design, production, and sale of prefabricated wood framing components in the building industry. Accordingly, Trussway Manufacturing offers roof and floor trusses, wall panels, components and rough openings, and beams and hardware. Founded in 1972, Trussway Manufacturing is a subsidiary of Builders FirstSource, and is the parent company of Trussway Construction, Inc. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Trussway Manufacturing employs nearly 1,000 individuals across its 6 manufacturing locations.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 31, 2023, Trussway Manufacturing discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Trussway Manufacturing determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and obtained this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack between March 7 and April 1, 2023. On May 30, 2023, Trussway Manufacturing began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number
  • Government issued identification number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Health insurance information (e.g., enrollment information, policy number)
  • Financial account information
  • Medical information relating to workers’ compensation or short-term disability claims
