WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Lee University reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on March 22, 2024, Lee University discovered that it had experienced a data security inident.1 As a result, Lee University launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, on March 19, 2025, Lee University confirmed that some personal information relating to its students, donors, and current or former employees was contained within a data set which was subject to a data breach.1 As a result, Lee University began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID number)
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
- Medical information
On March 25, 2025, Lee University began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to New Hampshire residents, Lee University is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
