Pan-American Life Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 1, 2023, Pan-American Life discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Pan-American Life determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information through a vulnerability in MOVEit Transfer, a third-party software application used by Pan-American Life, on May 28, 2023. On December 4, 2023, Pan-American Life began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address and other contact information
  • Medical and medical benefits information
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information
  • Credit card information
  • Subscriber numbers
  • Biometric data
