AutoZone Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating AutoZone, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. The AutoZone data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 184,000 individuals.

ABOUT AUTOZONE, INC.:

AutoZone is a retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories. Founded in 1979, AutoZone was created with the goal of bringing the sale of auto parts into a cleaner and more traditional retail environment. Today, AutoZone offers a variety of auto parts and accessories, including batteries, brake pads, engine oil, oil filters, wipers, auto tools, speaker systems, and more. Additionally, AutoZone provides services in diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting for a wide range of car problems. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, AutoZone has over 6,000 stores across all 50 U.S. states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Brazil.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In August 2023, AutoZone discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, AutoZone determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform used by AutoZone. On November 21, 2023, AutoZone began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
