Auto Club Trust Data Breach Investigation

As such, The Auto Club Group offers a variety of services to its members, including roadside assistance, auto repairs, car and home insurance, discounts, and travel services such as car rentals and hotel deals. Headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, The Auto Club Group serves more than 13 million members across 14 U.S. states, Quebec, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Auto Club Group has an additional office location in Tampa, Florida, and employs more than 5,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Auto Club Trust discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Auto Club Trust determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform between May 29 and May 30, 2023. On September 29, 2023, Auto Club Trust began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number 
  • Contact information
