IVF Michigan has locations in Ypsilanti, Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, East Lansing, Grand Blanc, Grand Rapids, Macomb, and Saginaw, Michigan, with an additional location in Sylvania, Ohio. With 21 medical professionals across its 9 locations, IVF Michigan has served over 6,100 patients.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On February 28, 2023, IVF Michigan discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, IVF Michigan determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on February 25, 2023. On August 4, 2023, IVF Michigan began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Claims information
- Bank account numbers
- Health information (e.g., conditions or diagnoses, lab results, medications, treatment information)
