Headquartered in Glendale, California, Community Surgery Center of Glendale is part of Regal Medical Group, which is a health system comprised of over 3,000 physicians, 10,000 specialists, and hundreds of urgent care centers, hospitals, and labs.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On December 8, 2022, Regal Medical Group (“Regal”), a network of healthcare facilities that Community Surgery Center of Glendale is an affiliate of, experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Regal determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and obtained sensitive information belonging to Community Surgery Center of Glendale patients through a ransomware attack on or about December 1, 2022. While the investigation is ongoing, Regal reported that it intends to provide notice to Community Surgery Center of Glendale patients whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Contact information (e.g., phone number)
- Medical information (e.g., medical diagnosis, medical treatment, laboratory test results, prescription data, radiology reports)
- Health insurance information (e.g., health plan member number, Medicare ID number)
