WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Transamerica discovered that its third-party vendor, Pension Benefit Information, LLC (“PBI”), experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information of Transamerica’s clients may have been accessed and obtained. Through its investigation, PBI determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and obtained this sensitive information belonging to Transamerica’s clients through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file transfer platform used by PBI between May 29 and May 30, 2023. In July, PBI began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. At present, the type of information exposed has not been made publicly available.
