Founded in 2007, Carrington Mortgage Services is a subsidiary of Carrington Holding Company, LLC, whose primary businesses work in sync with one another to provide a broad range of single-family residential real estate services across the United States. Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, Carrington Mortgage Services loans in all 50 states and Puerto Rio, and is licensed to lend in 48 states.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Carrington Mortgage Services discovered that one of its vendors, Alvaria, Inc., experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in in its systems belonging to Carrington Mortgage Services’ customers may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Alvaria determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on Alvaria’s systems. On April 26, 2023, Carrington Mortgage Services began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Last four digits of Social Security number
- Address
- Loan and balance information
