Apria Healthcare is a home healthcare company providing medical equipment and clinical support to individuals. As a provider of home medical equipment and services, Apria Healthcare specializes in non-invasive ventilation, inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and sleep apnea. Additionally, Apria Healthcare offers wound care and pressure wound therapy equipment. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Apria Healthcare has 275 branches across the United States. Apria Healthcare employs approximately 6,500 individuals and provides care to over 1.8 million patients annually.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On September 1, 2021, Apria Healthcare discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Apria Healthcare determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between April 5 and May 7, 2019, and again between August 27 and October 10, 2021. On May 22, 2023, Apria Healthcare began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Health insurance information
  • Financial information
  • Medical information
