Accordingly, One Brooklyn Health specializes in pediatric and geriatric care, sickle cell services, podiatry, and maternal health services. Additionally, One Brooklyn Health operates 2 nursing homes and offers senior citizen housing options such as independent living and assisted living programs. Founded in 2016, One Brooklyn Health is composed of three hospitals and their affiliated facilities, Interfaith Medical Center, Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On November 19, 2022, One Brooklyn Health discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, One Brooklyn Health determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and obtained this sensitive information between July 9 and November 19, 2022. On April 20, 2023, One Brooklyn Health began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
- Medical information (e.g., treatment information, prescription information, medical diagnosis, or condition information)
- Health insurance information
