WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Huntington Ingalls Industries discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Huntington Ingalls Industries determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between March and May, 2022. On April 18, 2023, Huntington Ingalls Industries began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information (i.e., account numbers, credit and debit card numbers, routing number)
- Passport number
- Health insurance information
- Medical information
