The Motto Mortgage Commit data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Motto Mortgage Commit and Motto Mortgage Assist are independently owned, operated, and licensed mortgage brokerage franchises that offer consumers a variety of tools to help in the home loan process. Founded in 2021 and 2020, respectively, Motto Mortgage Commit and Motto Mortgage Assist offer tools to assist in the home loan process, including offering education on different loan programs and mortgage basics, as well as checklists, mortgage calculators, and a glossary of terms regularly used in the process of obtaining a home loan. Additionally, Motto Mortgage Commit and Motto Mortgage Assist aid consumers in obtaining and comparing quotes for various home loans, including FHA loans, conventional loans, and VA loans. Motto Mortgage Commit is based in Tempe, Arizona, and Motto Mortgage Assist is based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On or about December 28, 2022, Motto Mortgage Commit discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Motto Mortgage Commit determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between December 18 and December 28, 2022. On February 2, 2023, Motto Mortgage Commit began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed include:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s License number
- Date of birth
- Financial account number
