Allied Urological Services is a medical practice in New York that specializes in the treatment of kidney stones. Allied Urological Services provides services related to lithotripsy and urological care on behalf of hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other health care providers. Specifically, Allied Urological Services provides mobile lithotripsy, a non-invasive procedure to treat kidney stones, bezoars, or gallstones, and prostate care services to over 30 hospitals in the New York tri-state area.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On January 3, 2022, Allied Urological Services experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information in its system may have been accessed or obtained. Through its investigation, Allied Urological Services determined that an unknown actor accessed this sensitive personal information from an employee account between September 26, 2021, and January 3, 2022. In July 2022, Allied Urological Services began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information has not been made publicly available by Allied Urological Services. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
